Dearest Sushant,

I am writing this, hoping that it will reach you and will help me to get rid of the guilt of not thanking you for everything you’ve given me and for the person you’ve made me.

I cried endlessly and I’m still crying. With every passing day, the emotions are growing uncontrollably. It hurts intolerably to know that each morning I will have to wake up to a world without you. You’ve left a void no one can fill. But I promise, I won’t let my tears mar the gracious smiles and unending joy that would give me even a single glimpse of yourself. I promise, you will always have me looking up to you. Always. You were and you are irreplaceable.

Belonging to a family where Bollywood isn’t really respected, I wasn’t allowed to know much about the lifestyle of ‘Bollywood Celebrities’. Even I was restricted from watching many of the unrealistic ‘Bollywood Movies’. But it wasn’t the same with you and your movies. I may have started out knowing you as a ‘Bollywood Actor’ but I found something more in you than I expected from a “Bollywood Actor”.

Be it the middle-class car mechanic Manav or the Indian Sherlock Holmes, the aspiring cricketer Ishaan or the very skillful and ardent Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the happy-go-lucky Shiv or the fearless warrior Jilaan, the kind hearted dacoit Lakhna or the cheerful all-rounder Anni, the benevolent Mansoor or the cute and chirpy Manny, you nailed each of your roles with sheer brilliance and utmost perfection. It only showed how devoted and passionate you were towards your work. But there was more to you than just your versatile acting skills.

You were an avid book lover, physics genius, generous philanthropist, astounding entrepreneur, a visionary, epistemically inquisitive star gazer, a polymath in the making and above all, you always kept learning regardless of your age. Sometimes I wonder if it is humanly possible to possess all of these traits? I knew, You are Divine. You are Immortal. You are Pure. You are Magic. You are all the things Love can imagine. I feel privileged to have known you in this way before the world.

I remember, you once said “Recognition plus Money is NOT equal to Success and Happiness. The Present Moment plus Excitement towards it brings you Happiness”.
Likewise, you never chased money or success, instead you chased your dreams and motivated us to do so. Your way of approaching life changed my definition of ‘Life’, giving it a whole new perception. Not just mine, you opened eyes of the millions! You encouraged us to push ourselves beyond our limits. I promise to embrace my dreams the way you embraced yours.

I wish I could have known you for a little longer. I wish I could take a leap back in time. I wish I could ask God for one more day. I wish I could ask you back from God.

Getting past everything that happened seems nearly impossible.

But as you said,
“Perhaps the difference between what is miserable and that which is spectacular lies in the leap of faith”
Maybe faith is the string that will keep us bound together through the undying light of your soul.

Undoubtedly, a part of ME has gone with you but a part of YOU still exists in me, which will provide a ray of hope even when life seems hopeless, which will keep teaching me to be resilient enough to move on, which will always keep my enthusiasm on a high note, which will cheer me up even in the darkest of the times, which will keep me guarded from pessimism and everything that’s not right for me.

We are the ones who upset you. I’m sorry, we failed you. We, as mortal humans didn’t deserve a divine soul like you. You definitely deserve to be in a much better place than this world. You didn’t deserve us but you do deserve the universe.

I believe you are in peace amongst the moon, the stars and the galaxies you love. Here’s where you can dive into the infinity and keep exploring till eternity, exactly how you wanted.

For me you will always be the Sushant I love, the Sushant I admire, the Sushant I seek. Today, tomorrow doesn’t matter. Because I believe you are my eternity, my infinity.
