How SSR expanded his galactic horizons

In preparation for his 2019 film Chanda Mama Door Ke, Sushant Singh Rajput had truly gone above and beyond the call of duty to prepare himself for this role.

While Sushant did mould himself physically to fit the role, he also made sure that his knowledge about the vast construct of space was broadened through the insights from various experts. Securing AIR 7 in the Delhi College of Engineering Entrance Examination in 2003 and winning the National Olympiad in Physics wasn’t enough – his drive to become the character he’s playing is so intense that this thirst for knowledge regarding this field is insatiable as of right now.

One of the ways Sushant managed to attain this information was by talking to Dr. Karan Jani from the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO). Dr. Jani came to India for a TED Talk at the behest of Shah Rukh Khan, to inform people about the importance of science in today’s day-and-age. However, while his field of work dealt with the concept of gravitational waves, Dr. Jani decided not to spout endless rhetoric about such a relatively unknown topic.

Instead, he talked about the importance of science in spearheading the development of the country.

After this enlightening TED Talk, Dr. Jani sat down for a discussion with Sushant Singh Rajput. The actor talked about his venture, Innsaei, which aimed to improve the functioning of various sectors of the economy by integrating the latest emerging technologies, such as Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, 3D Printing, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning, to name a few.

This piqued Karan Jani’s interest since his TED Talk revolved around the same talking points as well.

Dr. Jani was impressed by the fact that a Bollywood actor had such incredible insights into the world of science, and both people ended up forming a great connection over this mutual interest. Their productive conversation stretched over to Twitter as well, where everything from black holes to gravitational waves was up for discussion.

At the end of the day, this conversation ended up enlightening both men in different ways – both from a science perspective and otherwise.

It doesn’t sounds like Bollywood matter:
