In an interview, you once said that you chose acting as your calling because it allowed you to play out all the characters you wished you were for real. The irony is, the desire that remains unfulfilled, is the desire to get to know the real you.. the Sushant behind Manny/Mahi/Mansoor.
The irony is that we all want a little more of you, Gulshan – as you were known to your loved ones, especially now that you’re not here with us in a physical, worldly sense. Your passing has been so personal to so many of us – it is the one common theme amongst so many open letters, YouTube videos and comments.
So many of us are only just discovering how much we loved you and will love you as long as we exist. I set out to better understand why it feels like such a blow to so many of us, especially in the year 2020, when nothing is normal.
The truth is – you passing is not about politics, it’s not about the media, it’s not about the industry you worked in and its ways, it’s also not about illnesses…. it is only and only about YOU. In a world so grappled with putting their best foot and fighting for power…. you were hope….. your story.
Sushant was hope. Hope that it’s ok to be different, hope that you can come from humble beginnings and still make it big, hope that given the racism, the elitism, you can still be ‘successful’, hope that hard work pays off, hope that intellect is still valued, hope that it’s not just the fair who are lovely and the list can go on. The reason why for the past 3 months you have been on my mind every single day, amidst everything else that’s going on in the world, is that with you what really died was HOPE.
Sushant, I and many more, would like to turn back time and bring you back. If there was one thing that I would change about 2020 it would be June 14th. Hope must live and that’s why you will continue to live within us for as long as we live.
I avoid using the words life and death in my letter because you continue to live within millions until the end of time. You shall never be forgotten.

Read between his lines and look behind his characters and you will find him…
From 14th June, I have started talking to the stars up in the sky, as I see and feel Sush there.. I share my daily updates, any happy and sad news as I can see a friend ready with all ears!
Truly quoted, we need not mention about death, as he’s alive in each one of us.
Love you Sush!
